There are no statewide travel restrictions in Illinois. Chicago has separate system that advises Covid-19 testing or quarantine if the unvaccinated visitor comes from a state with a significant infection rate.
Effective, Aug. 30, individuals 2 and up must wear a mask in indoor public places, such as restaurants, gyms and grocery stores. The mandate applies regardless of vaccination status. On May 17, 2021, Governor J.D. Pritzker aligned the state’s mask mandate with CDC guidelines, allowing those who are vaccinated to go without masks in most situations. On July 27, the state adopted the CDC’s latest guidance, recommending that people once again wear masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status, in areas where COVID-19 is surging.
